We support an ordinance based on the simple principle that robust and transparent energy consumption information is a powerful market-based driver for long term energy improvements in our buildings. As a result, this program will:
- Lead to economic development and job creation related to energy assessments, benchmarking, and building improvements;
- Reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from buildings;
- Reduce energy cost for businesses and building operations; and
- Provide energy information to building owners and tenants, driving a marketplace focus on continuous improvements.
The proposed City Energy Project also aligns perfectly with our current efforts. We look forward to working with the city to replicate the successful policies, standards, partnerships and other outcomes from this initiative throughout Orlando, Orange County, and Central Florida.
